How to change to Port 1433

Hi

I want to change the default port 1433 .
I want to create a new port 1544. I am using SQL server7.0.
Any help will be appreciated.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSSQLServ70\Client\SuperSocketNetlib\TCP ,check decimal cylindrical

Change the default from 1433 to 1544

Hi

I tried it but it didn't work. I am trying to connect
2 systems through this 1544 port. Both the systems are
using sqlserver 7.0 and windows 2000.
The actual path is
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSSQLServ70\Clientafter this I didn't see SuperSocketNetlib.

Try to open every folder and search for TCP folder.Not all the computer has the same path setup

I didn't see any TCP folder.
My operating system is windows 2000.

Can you tell me what are the sub-folders under client?Did you try to open all the folders under MSSQLSERV70?

Have you tried using the SQL Server Network utility and client Network utility?

Subfolders in Client .....

\MSSQLServer\Client\.... Connect To
DB-Lib
TDS
In MSSQLserver another subfolder with name MSSQLServer
is there. If I click on MSSQLserver I found 1433 port.
I changed to 1433 to 1544. I tried changing in
Server Network Utility and Client Network Utility.
Still its not working .

After changing registry and client network utility default ports number,you should add a alias with port defined as the new port number.Then restart sqlserver/sql server agent services

In Client Network Utility I changed the existing TCP/IP
with 1544. and let the alias as the server name only.
Do I need to explicitly change the server alias name to other name, other than server name????

Change the port number in alias setting from 1433 to 1544,recommanded that you check for the IP address of the server you are going to conenct.(but keep the server name is fine ,too)
