I am using Crystal 8.5 and I had made an ODBC connection Microsoft FoxPro VFP Driver (*dbf)
Unfortunatly I want to change the tables that report takes data from so I created another Microsoft FoxPro VFP Driver (*dbf) ODBC connection. But I have problem in changing the ODBC connection. First I tried to Remove tables from Database -> Remove from Report but an error was reported. Then I read about Set Location in Help and I follow the steps, but I take no results.

Tracey/all - Is there a best way to perform this if in a conversion and need to test over 2 databases, preferably simultaneously(prod then test prod etc) ??

Thanks

Hi,

Not in CR8.5. CR9.0/CE9.0 does have the option of changing the ODBC name and you dont have to set location everytime you test your report on Test/Production environment.

Hi,
Thank you all for replying

The Set Location works if the new ODBC have the same number of tables as the old one. But if the new ODBC have less tables than the old what can be done???

Moreover there is a table in the second ODBC that have not the same fields as it's associated table in the old ODBC, in fact this table have the same fields as the 'old' table plus 10 other fields

I would be pleased if enybody can help me

Hi,

Having more fields or even different field names should not matter. When you set the location and if Crystal does not find exactly same name of column, it will give you an option of mapping old fields with new fields. Also look at the Set Alias, if you want to change the name of table/columns.

also, database -> verify will check any changes
should not be a problem if all the report fields are there

Hi, I still have a problem!!
The problem is that after I mapped tables with Set Location Map Fields window appears but I don know how to map the old with the new fields as there are only 2 old unmapped fields and 24 new unmapped fields. And I want that new fields to be printed in my report. Does enyone knows how to map these fields???

You don't need to map the fields to use them, just map those that have been changed.

The 2 old unmapped are fields have likely been eliminated or they are renamed to one of the 24 new.

Also make sure that you turn off the same data type box (something like that) to see all of the possibilities.

Thank you all for answering my question.
The problem was that I should had removed the 2 old fields from the report and then do Set Location
