Hi, I am on a Nortel Norstar/BCM Phone System T7316E. Currently, our office is configured so that everyone dials out from our main office line ending in 4200. However, I also have a direct line ending in 4248, i.e. (555) 555-4248.

Our administrator does not know much about how to manage this system. How can I get them to change the settings so that I no longer display xxx-xxx-4200 to people I call each day?

I don't want people returning my call to the receptionist, but rather seeing my direct number xxx-xxx-4248 each time I call, and returning the call directly to my desk.

Any help you guys can give would be Awesome!

Thanks, Ima

If you have PRI you can set the public OLI on that set. I think that's under the line access programming, but its been a while since I've worked on a Norstar. If you have analog lines the caller ID is controlled by the telco.

You may get a better or more specific answer in the Norstar forum.

Thanks for responding so soon! I will try mentioning that with the administrator in our office tomorrow.

For some reason I suspect that our system is set up on Voip rather than analog lines if that's what you mean. I, personally, have no clue what "PRI" even means, nor what "OLI" stands for either. But I assume you mean our public "OLI" is xxx-xxx-4200 as that leads to the receptionist.

We have an office of 20 people. Everyone else will continue to project the xxx-xxx-4200 number, and I alone wish to project my direct line of xxx-xxx-4248. That can be done right? It's not an all or nothing thing?

Thanks again. Yeah, what I would really like is instructions on how I can configure this on my phone. Perhaps I have to have the admin passwords to get it done. I will try re-posting like you said.
