how to change logo.sys in xp?

how do u change the start-up screen in xp?
i know that in 98 to change the start-up screen u had to change the file logo.sys in ur c drive but i can't this file in my current c drive. does anyone have know what to do?

actually wat i am more interested in is how to get the old pic back. this new one that i installed seems to be slowing my com down a lot.

How long ago did you change it. Can System Restore help you or what happens if you uninstall the program that set up your current screen?

i tried system restore, doesn't help
i already uninstalled the prog but the logo is still there
and i've tried to look for the same prog again in hopes that it can change the logo back to the default one, can't seem to find it. i downloaded the prog off of tucows.com and they don't seem to have it anymore either. i think the prog is called nitro xp, i'm not sure.
i hope there is someone out there that can help me.
i would really appreciate it.

the file that the boot logo is in, is \windows\system32\ntoskrnl.exe

you may have to get the file off the cd, or if you have sp1 you'll need to get that version since it was updated in sp1.

when you get the original file, go into safe mode to restore the file.
