I have a 8100 PBX system, with DT700 phones of the following details:

Hardware V. 9.1.3.0 (Type A)
Firmware V. 4.0.5.0 & 5.0.8.0

Hardware V. 9.1.3.3 (Type A)
Firmware V. 5.0.6.0

All these phone are up and running perfectly.

Now I've got another phone of the following details:

Hardware V. 9.1.4.0
Firmware V. NEC Std SIP 2.3.37.26

This phone doesn't take an extension number and I'd like to migrate the firmware on it to 5.0.8.0 or something more recent. Can you please teach me how to do it?

hi
you must use IPPhoneManager tool to change firmware on the phone

I've checked in google several sites, but could not find where to download it from. Can you send me the download link of the program as well as the firmware?

The phone with the "Firmware V. NEC Std SIP 2.3.37.26" was used on a "3C" system and will have to be re-flashed before it will come on line.
If you give me a destination I can send you some files.
I'm not having any luck with the Tek-Tips upload feature.

You're f***ing right! It was on a 3C system in an office which was closed down. Please send them to necstudent2017@gmail.com.

It was about to work, and I was happy I did it till the following:

1. I made the ITL_Firmware_v5.0.9.0 folder the directory the root directory in Cisco TFTP Server, and left the program open.
2. I opened IP Phone Manager, selected the network interface, searched for the phones, selected the one with IP address (172.17.1.110). This is the new phone as I set and tested this IP address manually.
3. I connected to it, and its status became OK, changed the Command to Download, selected TFTP, set the Simultaneous Download to 2. But this is the error I always got.

4. There are some other settings in the version of IP Phone Manager that you sent me which are not in the documentation (see the image below). I played with them also, but the error remained the same.

On you post there is an option to go from STD SIP to NEC SIP. That needs to be checked.

NEC uses pumpkin for a lot of their firmware updates. You can download it here;

You could also try updating through the phone. In the maintenance options I believe you can specify the IP address of the tftp server and start the upload.

According to NEC:
To do the conversion, the only key field needed is the Std-SIP to NEC-SIP check box. The other fields in the IPPhone Information area of the Download window are only for filtering what to show when the Search button is pressed.

But I agree with belevedere, I would try pumpkin and then initiating the download from the phone.

I tried Std-SIP to NEC-SIP among what I tried, and now I tried with PumpKIN. Still the same error.

Pumpkin usually will show some sort of progress unless the DT700 can't even reach the server.
Was there any activity on Pumpkin?

PumpKIN doesn't seem to react at all. On the phone screen it says "Download Failed!" and present an Exit soft button.

I also tried another phone of hardware V. 9.1.3.3 (Type A) and firmware V. 5.0.6.0 to see if only this particular phone doesn't accept the download, but even that phone didn't.

That sounds like a network issue? Was your procedure something like this:

1. Get Pumpkin.

2. Copy the PumpKIN folder to the Desktop.

Be sure valid flash upgrade file is in the root PumpKIN folder (default file is itlisipv.tgz)
Default files are itlisipv = Enhanced phones 12/24/DESI-Less (the common phones we use)
itlisipe = Value phones 2 and 6 Button Terminals
itlisips = CTS phones

3. Make sure the IP phone can ping the PC with PumpKIN on it

Hold down the check button for 3 seconds –
Select #3 PING – enter IP address of PC with PumpKIN.
Verify the phone can ping the PC

4. Login to phone – Hold – Conf - * - #

User – ADMIN Password – 6633222
Verify current firmware –

• #5 Terminal Information
(press down arrow to Firmware version)
EXIT
• #3 – Maintenance Settings
• #1 – Download Menu
• #2 - Download Address – Enter IP address of PC
• #3 – Protocol = #2 TFTP
• Enter to return to Download Menu
• #1 Download Files
• #3 Boot and Program
(this is to download the specified file itlisipv )
• EXEC to Execute

The phone will need to be reset – repeat step 4 to verify the firmware upgrade worked.

1. Off course done.

2. The PumpKIN folder wasn't on the desktop, but now I've made it so, as you can see below. It didn't help.

Under this folder are itlisipe.tgz, itlisips.tgz & itlisipv.tgz.

3. I think you mean the Help button. When I press it (no matter how long), this is what I get:

4. There is no Config button, but I I've just verified that the firmware is NEC Std SIP 2.3.37.26. I went to Menu > [6] Status > [1] Terminal Information. If you log in first and then go back to [6] Status, the phone will restart.

After verifying the firmware version, I logged in and then went to [3] Maintenance Settings and didn't find [1] Download Menu. Instead I found [1] Reboot Phone [2] Date Clear and [3] Key Kit.

I forgot that this is a 3C phone. The Help button options probably aren't there.

I'm still concerned about no activity from Pumpkin. I just used IP phone Mgr to try to upgrade a DT800. It was the wrong file but I could tell that we hit Pumpkin:

Are you sure that you can ping the DT700 from the TFTP server?

100% I can ping the phone from my laptop which is running PumpKIN, as in the above screenshot. Where do you think we have to hit next to find out more about this probably network issue?

I'm not a network wiz but have you tried turning off the firewall on your laptop?

@ PFD45
Yes I have turned off the firewall at all types of network location.

@ belevedere
Do you mean by turning off the firewall also?

Have you tried giving the phone and your laptop a (compatible) static IP and connecting directly between the 2?

The fact that Pumpkin isn't even acknowledging that something is knocking on it's door seems like the first issue to overcome.
