Hi, all:

Could you tell me where to look for changing my server name? I mean computer name, not domain name.

Thanks in advance!

Right-click Network Neighborhood > Properties > Identification tab

Cautions is required here, if you are going to change the server name, check to see if you has any shared resources from this system

Are you running WINS on your network? If so, delete the WINS mappings for the old server name before renaming it. Also, remember to know the local administrator ID/password so if you cannot join the domain, you can login locally and change the name back. You can even add the new server name in server manger on the PDC (or BDC).

Follow the earlier responses on changing the server name - right click on properties, Properties, Identification tab, change.

The process is pretty straight forward and I've done it lots of times.
