Hi,

I was trying to do what I mentioned on the Subject. The problem is I was trying to pick "Select a table or range", which was not highlighted and it means I couldn't do anything about it. Under that, it was "Use an external data source", then "Choose connection". The previous programmer used one of the connections but I don't want to do that, because the data has only less than 80k records. Why the heck use ODBC?

I know there is going to be one way of doing what I want, recreate the PT, which I have no intention to do. Anything else? Is ADO going to help?

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

What version Excel?

Excel 2010.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the quick return.

So you want to change the PT source from an EXTERNAL source to a TABLE within your workbook?

"but I don't want to do that, because the data has only less than 80k records. Why the heck use ODBC?"

There may be a way to change the source from external to internal programmatically, but I'd suspect that the "trauma" might destroy the current PT report.

Why not keep it, 80k or not?

Thanks Skip.

The only way that I can think of is to programmatically delete the existing PT and create another one without using Connection, use table or range instead.

What would you think?

No, there is a way to change the data source. I am not at my PC now. I'll get on my Excel and see if I can get some code to work.
