I'm changing from one room to another in my office, so do everyings of mine, including my norstar 7310 (The old is 7208). The problem is: I want to change the phone number configured in my 7208 to the new 7310 on my new desktop, and the physical cable can't be moved, but the phone number seems being put with the phone itself. Thanks.

You need to to SET RELOCATION on. Do the following;

1. FEATURE ** CONFIG (266344) and then 266344 for the password.

2. Pick 'SHOW' for CONFIGURATION
3. Pick 'NEXT' until MISCELLANEOUS then 'SHOW'
4. Pick 'NEXT' until SET RELOCATION
5. Pick 'CHANGE' and set to YES.

Release the session. Unplug the two phones. Take one phone from the original location and plug into new location. Wait for it initialize. when the date and time comes on, pres FEATURE * 0 then the INTERCOM button to verify that the DN was brought over with the phone. Repeat for the other phone.

After you're done, go back and turn SET RELOCATION off.

There's a FAQ here also to read.

Happy to help.

That is a tool that is great for the novice, hell for the technician. Destroys your cross connect field.

You should put a note in the phone room (taped to the ICS) that states: Relocation used, ext XXX moved to XXX. for as many changes as you have made. that way the next tech coming out to work on your system knows to verify the numbering plan of the cross connect field before making any changes.
