Hello,

I try to change the gateway on my RS/6000. I change it by the smit tcpip menu. There is no erroe but when I check the gateway it's always the old one. Please help me.

Thanks a lot.

You might have ended up with more than one default gateway in the ODM ( easily done ). Check this with:
odmget -q attribute=route CuAt

Then you can remove any superfluous ones through smitty tcpip...further configuration...static routes...remove static route.

If you are making a straightforward change of one gateway, I have found it easiest to just update this in the minimum configuration section.

Mark

1) smitty tcpip for single gateway
2) route
3) for one session till reboot

ifconfig en0 deatch
ifconfig en0 host_ip netmask 255.255.255.0
route flush
route add 0 gate_ip
