I work for a company that has serveral branch offices with PCs that ideally would need be re-image every week. The people at the branch office are not technical savvy, so they're cannot do it. Is there any software that can automate or remotely re-image a PC?

I think the enterprise version of Ghost has this functionality - but I'd be interested in what use of a PC requires a weekly reimage! Sounds like you need something like deepfreeze (I presume its because users are changing stuff) or at least mandatory profiles.

the PCs at the branch office are used for training purposes and new students are using it every week. They have admin. privileges on them so sometimes students will install uneccessary apps. on them.

they got admin privileges because some of the training include installing softwares. I will look into this deepfreeze software. Thanks for the input.

Altiris has come on all our HP machines in the last couple of yeasr, that's pretty decent. You can set daily schedules for it to update, very unintrusive and the only way you'd know it was working would be the icon in the system tray.

Carlsberg don't run I.T departments, but if they did they'd probably be more fun.

i found that deepfreeze works pretty well...question i have with that product is how does it work. I got in contact with them and the sales rep said that it's a closely guarded secret that they don't even know.

in my office we have two servers and about 30 workstation, we make a scheduled backup using acronis true image enterprize server, it's very easy, and all image are save in one place on the server, and if one of the workstations has any problems, it's easy to recover it just in minutes.

thanks for the input..but the problem is that we have remote offices and the ppl at the branch office do not have the technical skills to run acronis.

if i don't mess up, acronis allow to install a special agent which can manage the backuping operations remotely. all you need is to install agents on workstations.
