how to add to color to the item that is found in search

Hello,
I added the code to the button click event .when i click the button the item i req gets selected in the listbbox.
I searched required item in listbox and am able to get it successfully but the thing is i want to distinguish b/w the item selected and others in listbox .i mean to say how to add color to the selected item.

So, you can either follow the workarounds suggested or use a javascript method to apply the style after the page has been rendered.
