I would like to add hdisk12,13 to appvg on appserver node and remainder to datavg. Do I add disks to vg's through smit extendvg? And then use smit hacmp to run cl_extendvg? Redbooks said that disks need to be available and have PVID. Do I need to run cfgmgr again to get PVID? Thanks

The best way is:

1. cfgmgr -vl ssar on Node A
2. chdev -l hdiskxx -a pv=yes on Node A
3. cfgmgr -vl ssar on Node B

Then extend the VG via the smitty hacmp panels.

What version of HACMP are you running ?
If version 4 , try and use C-SPOC ( smitty HACMP ---
cluster system management ---- cluste physical volume manager ----- ( select the nodes ) and select hdisk ssar ssa logical disk drive .

Hopefully this will , add disk on both nodes , without you vary off VG on node 1 , varying on on node 2 and add disk .

I just realised , the above is like doing cfgmgr -l ssar
, you would have to do what axelsche has written

I am on HACMP 4.4.1 with 4.3.3-10 for OS Thanks

The main point is do all work through HACMP tools under `smit hacmp`, don't use normal LVM commands for shared vg. IBM Certified -- AIX 4.3 Obfuscation

I will rather use cl_extendvg command to extend the vg eaither its SSA /SCSI.

cl_extendvg -g reousrce_groupname -n node1 node2 vgname physicalvolumename1,physcialvolname2

cl_extendvg command is aviliable /usr/es/sbin/cluster directory
