HI Greg,

Thanks for response. We have requirement to add another physical server we are performing horizontal scaling.

Regards,

OT has an article involving the term "Anchor Server", Even before OT had official documentation a few of us in the business would do it like this.

1)Create Anchor Server on the beefiest box because you want large horsepower as your "Admin" server. Many small companies will just need this "Admin" server for a long time .Even though it is called "Admin" server please note that it only handles the "search" things and the name is a misnomer.
2)After you install optional modules/custom modules /patches/hotfixes on theis "Anchor" copy the install location we call this <OTHOME> or OTHOME.
3)On your FE2 to FEn servers install livelink from the installer .It will add LL services, Admin services and if you are on "kick bu**" versions something called "Cluster Agent". This was to just register with windows as most people will run livelink in windows.
4)Create the web applications and support as the installer says.
5)Shut all of the IIS and LL services down. You want to make copies now that is the reason.
6)Copy this <OTHOME> as <OTHOME>_installer.
7)Copy the <OTHOME> from the other location.
8)Check using notepad++ compare plugin or something similar opentext.ini in config on the overlay copy vs the box copy. If OTHOME was installed the same case wise then you probably have done 90 % of the work.
9)remove the dftconnection entry and dbconnection entry on the cloned instance .Do a thorough job of checking for all occurrences. This I done because the dbconnection info is seeded by the <OTHOME> variable so if you install one livelink in c:\OpenText and another in c:\opentext even though for windows it is the same but the dbconnection encryption will vary .In all probability when starting up your oracle user account will be locked.
10)Start both services. go to the link ?func=admin.index. Now you will be presented with “connect to an existing database or a new database”. Select “existing” and put DB credentials. You should probably get “Congratulations” or a white screen or a 500.Don't panic just re-start the instance. Check if dbconnection and dbconnection appears .If it does then you will see livelink on this.

Optional Best Practices
1)On the loader section relieve the line to say loader=sockserv;javaserv leave out agents/notify/wfagent etc .This is to prevent this server from running scheduled job. If you need it go by mutual exclusion rule.
2)If you want to run this as “Another Admin” register this server from the main instance GUI.Now 90 % of admin things your “default admin server” does this can do as well.I usally delete otadmin.cfg,otadmin.cfg.old,otadmin.pid,otadmin.pid.old and search.ini before doing it it will get re-created.
3)Some old written modules register dll’s in windows(32) and syswow64 places. Most newly written modules will register it when you start up. If you suspect that re-run the installer for that module or use windows command line to register it.
4)If you use 10.5 version it will ask you for webservices things, if you need that create a 3rd application.
5)if you are on 10.5 leave the Admin server running on this 2 to n servers it does not hurt nor does it do anything. If you need distributed “MemCached” then register the Admin’s on the other servers and you have an awesome cluster you can be proud off.

In Vertical one changes the 2099 lapi default port , port 5858 default admin port and 1099 RMI default port to something of a convention so I would inatll my vertical1 with 12099,15858,11099 and vertical2 with 22099,25858,21099 like that until you reach the maximum of ephemeral ports. The maximum vertical instances I have configured is 5 on any server. You never really try to vertical scale a working admin server.

Other OT methods to do Fends are

1)”Dummy Database” method which involves setting up new databases for each instance throwing all those away and merging to the real database by disconnection or removing dbconnection/dftconnection method
2)Put all the optional modules and forcibly hitting ?func=admin.installmodule on the FE1 through FEn instances.

Well, if I called the wrong number, why did you answer the phone?
