Hi everybody,

we've been trying to add a default route via

"smit tcpip --> further configuration --> static routes --> add a static route"

After we've added the route, we did a "odmget CuAt" to find the corresponding entry.

It looks like that:

value = "net,-hopcount,1,,0,10.10.12.1"

So far, everything is working fine.

Problem is: On our other RS6000 (someone else did the configuration work) the odm entry for default route looks like that:

value = "net,,0,10.10.12.1"

What's the exact difference between these two settings and how can we reproduce it ourselve ?

Thanks in advance !

Regards
Thomas

You can set the default route via smit (as in your example) or via the command line,
# route add default <address>. Both ways will update the ODM.
When you set the default route via smit, by default, it adds the options -hopcount 1.
(For more info on the -hopcount option see the man pages for &quot;route&quot;.)
These options are assumed by default with the command line. My guess is that your other machine had the default route added via the command line.
For example:
# route add default 10.10.12.1
