How to access voicemail remotely on Basic system

i'm setting up a new IP office system in basic mode. I can't seem to figure out how to tell users how they can access their mailboxes remotely. I've come across people stating *7, *17 and a few others but nothing seems to be working. As of right now when you call in and get the auto attendant, if you press "*", you get a message saying it is invalid. if you get past the order attendant and get into someone's voicemail as soon as you press "*", the greeting stops, and you start leaving your message.

I’m more familiar with the Essential programming and was hoping the Basic system would be a piece of cake. Should’ve went with an Essential system.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
