Recovered files from a damaged hard drive having Windows 2000 OS. Recovered .rtf files, what application do I use to open them ? Used GetDataBack software.
Most of the files open. Opening one with word viewer or open office brings up a 'ASCCI Filter Options' window with the foll options: Character set[western europe( windows-1252/WinLatin 1)etc], Default fonts [Times New Roman,Arial], Language and Paragraph break -> CR & LF, CR(carriage return), LF(line feed). Get the following when I click OK:
On windows 2000 rtf files dont have anything by default to open them. You can open them at times with word pad but they do not always look right. I used to use windows 2000 and had the same problem. Thats why I used the word viewer and open office.
