Hi,

We have a Dell Poweredge 2600 Server Running with 2.gb of Ram and have 35 -Windows XP PRO Clients connecting to it.

How much ram is recommended .... ????

We currently have 126gb of Disk space in a RAID 5 Array configuration made up of 3 * 42 Gb disks

This is just a informative ques as our server is running fine at the moment ....

IS TWO GIG enough ????

Murray

Probably if your running fine at the moment!

This really depends on what roles and tasks the server is undertaking. Whats the server for?

Hi,

We are running fine for about 75% of the time and then for no reason it will take anything up to 2-3 mins to do a file save as and try to save a file to the network share ... this can be a little file or a file containing many mg non pattern that i can see. It doesn't happen on a sinlge PC but on various clients at all times of the day....

Hence why i am asking.,...

regards,

Murray

Whats the server for? Just file serving or database server also and maybe email and domain controller and terminal services, etc etc. You may see the performance issue when you copy a small file but what else is the server doing at that moment?

If you have XP Pro clients, could well be a problem at the client side ???

Search through the forums for XP Pro slow browsing the network.

Just an idea...
