Hi,

I've been using FW4 for awhile, but never checked to see how much RAM it was using. From what my computer tells me, it is using about 330 MB of RAM just to open it and open one small image file. Is this normal? That seems like a lot.

I have Win2000 pro, a 1.4 GH Athlon and 512 MB of RAM.

OK, I realized I had a lot of textures, styles and patterns that needed to be initialized by FW everytime I opened the program, and someone told me that this can use a lot of RAM, so I got rid of about 80-90% of these things and now I am down to DW using about 200 MB, but this is still way too much for one program. Any ideas? Thanks.

I have DW open 16.4 mb (no file open)

FW 39.6 mb (no file open)

and i'm on a PII 400 with 320mb of RAM

you must have a prob somewhere!!!

Good Luck

Thanks for the feedback.

Whatever the problem was, when I re-installed FW, it is now using about 20 or 30 MB. Yay.

Curiosity question here - how do you folks measure how much Fireworks is using in terms of memory?

I have a generic system with 256 MByte, Pent III 500 MHz and it seems, after a while (time varies) my system will lock up like it is out of available resources when running a Trial Version Fireworks 4. OS is Win 98SE (which I understand has poor resource management). I suppose my real concern though is the amount of main memory one might really need ... as two previous posters indicate they have 512 MBytes and 320 MBytes.
