How many people use Windows? 1

I know this is probably totally the wrong place for this, but I'm at a loss as to where else to go.
I need to find out how many people worldwide, use a Windows operating system. I've searched all over for this, but can't find anything. Does anyone know of any sites that might have this kind of information?

I think the only place you'll get an answer like that is to approach a company specialising in surveys and opinion polls. Just out of interest, why do you want to know? My suggestions are what I would try myself. If incorrect, I welcome corrections to my rather limited knowledge. Andy.

400 million people - Dos based code (9x code)
70 million people - Windows 2000 and NT code base
