I will have to change jobe by next August. I was wondering how long it will take to become certified for any of the following postions and what certifications should I obtain?
The positions are: System Administrator, Web Developer, Computer Systems Analyst.

And to add to the list in my above post Pc technician/Engineer.

quazia83,

The job postings should indicate the minimum level of certification (if any) that are required to be considered for each position.

For example, System Administrator may require MCSA certification, which consists of passing 4 exams. On the other hand, the company that has the open position may require of a higher level of certification or a combination of certification and a minimum anount of relevant experience.

This information should be available in the job posting.

The list of Microsoft Certs are available here as well as the requirments If you plan on taking the classes the MCSA should take you 3-4 months (I'm assuming night classes here). The MCSE should take you about 6 months. Same witht the MCAD. The MCDST (The PC Tech one) a couple of months.

If you are just going to dive in read the MS Press books do the practive tests in the back, and take the tests a couple of months for pretty much all of them. They are long books.

These time trames also depends on your experience with AD, .NET, Windows, etc.
