Hi

I am thinking of self studying for a CCNA. Can anyone advise me as to how long it would take me to study so that I would be ready to take the exam?

1) How long would it take if I was studying full-time (i.e not working)
2) How long would it take if I was working full-time (i.e. so I could only study on evenings and weekends)

Thanks
ZK

dedicated hard-core studying...assuming you have 0 experience/knowlage about networking....less than 30 days

while working f/t....60-90 days sounds reasonable

this is assuming you have good comprehension and retention

I took the ICRC class at the end of September (1999), studied every day, and passed CCNA in late December (22nd) while working full time.

CCNP toakes a lot more.

hi
im very glad that such a forum exists. it was an eye-opener.
im interested in taking the certification exams.
i wanted to know how much it would cost for the entire certification process. im a non US resident. and im not a student.
as far as i know, there are atleast 3 certification(CCNA, CCDA and CCDP) in routing and switching. and 3 certifications(CCNA-WAN, CCDA-WAN, CCDP-WAN) in WAN technology.
can anyone provide me this info.

thanks in advance.

faloodah.

Faloodah- unlike college, the cost is up to you. If you take formal classes, a safe rule of thumb is 2500.00 per class plus the exam costs which is 100.00 per test. If you are a good self taught student, then it's the cost of books and the test. Myself, I fall in between, some of the tests, I'm self taught but I take formal classes to fill in certain blanks for the sake of speed and discussion.

Costs will vary on quality and location.

CCNA - 1 test
CCDA - 1 test

CCNP 4 tests plus CCNA

Just my own experience :)
