I'm on a Macintosh running Tiger (10.4XX) and I use a lot of Paragraph Styles in my work.

I would really like to set the Shortcut for each style, but I have not been able to set the Shortcuts. The cursor appears in the area to set the shortcut, but nothing shows up when I type in that space.

Can someone please tell me what I am doing wrong and how to set the Shortcuts?

Thank you, DesignTech

Use the "quick apply" shortcut: Command-Return or Ctrl-Enter . This brings up character and paragraph styles, typing in the first character of the style's name will move it up.

Here is a link to the article where I got this tip, lots more info here:

If the user wants to add a shortcut instead of using QuickApply (which is CS2 only), you have to have your NumLock key on, then use one of the modifier keys (Mac: Option, Command, Shift) and a number from the 10-key pad. You can have a keyboard shortcut for a style and use that in addition to QuickApply as well. Hope that helps!
