How is a block size in kb or bytes ?

Sometimes, with an unix system, the size of volumes is in Block size. I would like to kow how to convert block sizes in bytes (or kb) which is, according to me, more explicit.

Simple .. 512 bytes = 1 block .. so 2 blocks = 1kb
