Dear gurus,
I need an urgent help. I am changing an db written by somebody else (MS Access 2000). I can't solve what one of fields in a report stands for (how it is being calculated).
When I check it's properties in design layout, Control Source shows: "=[TOT1]". So TOT1 is a kind of defined expression or something - I guess. HOW can I solve what exactly is hidded under that Control Source???
Please help me ...

A control with "=[TOT1]" means that there is another control somewhere on the report with the name TOT1

At a guess you've got a field called TOT1 that calculates a Running Sum over a group. ( Probobly set to .Visible = No so that it will not appear when printed or previewed. )

This ( Visible ? ) control then simply displays the final total in a Group Footer or similar.

The control TOT1 can be any size and tucked away anywhere in the appropriate group level. Look for a field that appreas in design view but does not appear in preview or print view.

Failing that click on any control and then tab through all the controls, keeping an eye on the Control Name in the properties box, until you find the offending object.

Or click the down arrow in the control-name box, find TOT1 and click the entry. The FIELD on the form/report should get sizing handles around it. If you still can't see it, try pressing CONTROL-RIGHTARROW to make it bigger until you see it.

I've known sneaky programmers to make an invisible control very very small as well....
