How does Exchange 2000 deal with attachments?

Hi,
If someone sends a big attachment to 10 people how does Exchange work:

- Does it store only 1 copy of the attachment?
or
- Does it store 10 copies of the attachment?

For all destination in the same store there is only one copy of the attachment. If you have setup multiple stores you can end up with multiple copies of the attachment
