How do you vector images on illustrator? I have no idea on how to start this. I need a step by step instruction.

thanks.

Copy,

I'm going to assume here that you actually meant to ask how to turn a bitmap image into a vector image. One way to sort of do this in illustrator is to open the bitmap image in Illustrator (File> Place) then trace it using the Illustrator tools. You might also try to use the Autotrace function that is found under the Blend tool (at least in Illus. 9). Adobe also has a program that is specifically used for creating vector images from bitmaps. It's called Streamline and might be more of what you're looking for.

However, if your question is actually, "How do you draw a vector image in illustrator?" then I suspect you need to do some research about vector images, bitmap images and computer graphics in general. I can't say I've ever heard "vector" used as a verb before.

I can't say I've ever heard "vector" used as a verb before.

LOL.

I hate when people say, for example , "try Photoshopping it..."

There's even a section on the Adobe web site that explains the correct use for the name Photoshop!!!

I suppose it's better than "How do I Illustrator it?"

Actually have you noticed now the new thing is instead of how some people called Photoshop 'Adobe' i.e. "How do I make the background transparent in Adobe?"...

...they now say CS? i.e. "How do I make the background transparent in CS?"...

Ummmmm...hello???? Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, GoLive...they are all called 'CS'!!! LOL!!!

Not a new phenomenon - I have been seeing this for years in graphics forums. Just shows complete ignorance that Adobe is the manufacturer, not the program.

Not to be rude, but I thought this was a forum for professionals.

Either this person really doesn't have a clue, or perhaps they just need to word their Q's better. (my apologies if the latter is the case!)

Flash, also has a vector conversion capability, corel trace(Last version of corel draw i used was v7!). Do a search in google for raster vector conversion software, there are quite a few, some free.

"I can't say I've ever heard "vector" used as a verb before."
Haven't you? eg: the pilot vectored the plane to the target
It can be used as a transitive verb, though 'copynpaste' did use it incorrectly.

Moe: It could have been a real ugly situation, but luckily I managed to shoot him in the spine.

Im sorry english wasnt the first language I learned, so I'm excused for that and thanks for everyones help. :)

I've been "photoshop'ing" for a long time and I want to learn these other programs from adobe.

Sorry copynpaste, I wasn't critisizing your English, which is fine, I wonder how well I would do in your native language? *lol*
Well Streamline is the Adobe vector conversion app, though it hasn't been updated in ages. The trace tool in illustrator is really only good for copying block shapes from raster images, not for conversion.
