How do you turn the system off?

We have the Nortel phone and VM system which are obviously seperate units.
The guy before me used to just unplug everything to turn it off or reboot it.
Im sure there must be a more graceful way.
How?

For the phone system you would just unplug it. You'll need to be more specific on the type of voicemail flash or nam as these have separate shut down procedures.

The Manuals say Nortel Norstar. Norstar VoiceMail 4.0.

Is that of any help?

Depending on you're version of software for the phone system you can do a graceful shut down. The voice mail can also do a graceful shut down as well. J Cadina IV

Hi,
Usually, to switch off your VM as you call it, here we call it Startalk 180, you enter the operator password & follow the prompts.
Enter Feature 982,
Enter the OPERATOR password, 67372867, which is the same as operator on the keypad.
Follow the prompts, business open: y/n, etc, etc.
This should switch the VM off. To turn it back on reverse the procedure.

niborsnriac your confusing the powerdown of the voicemail with turning off the auto attendant from answering the lines.
to power down the nam ( voicemail 4.0 ) dial feature 915 password: 2223772 press next (soft keys on 7310/7324 sets ) untill you see system shut down press show and chose grace ( or next for quick or immediate. ) go th the voicemail and wait for the decending tones. once heard pull the power. for the telephone system just pull the power. disclaimer: these are not step by step instructions I may have omitted or included steps that are incorrect. ( but they are close )
