We are trying to free up diskspace and have enabled archiving on a few mail clients. Archive folder populates with log and archive file for each of those users so it looks like it is working. would like to know when archiving takes place (can you schedule a mail file to be archived) and what happens exactly. since enabling archiving we have noticed our disk space on the same partition counts down from a start of 6 gb to zero k and then resets its self. very strange. domino does not crash however.noticed ncompact is running also. thanks for any info.

no one ou there in this forum has any input to thtis questions. that is disappointing

Navigate the Notes archive settings under actions>archive>settings. Options for scheduling, deletion management, etc., can be found there.

A good resource is Notes help, it provides good documentation on archiving.

Action - Archive - Settings - Advanced - Check "Scheduled Archiving will occur localy

YOU MUST ALSO DO THE FOLLOWING:
File - Preferences - User preferences and Check "Scheduled local agents".

This allows the agent that you scheduled in the first step to be able to run.

The fastest way for this to work is if the user has a local copy of their mailbox and the agent runs from one local file to the other (local active mail to local archive file).
