Can someone tell me how to take separate columns of address, city, state and zip and combine them into one column?

I thought I could do it by Merge, but I only see instructions for Merge Reports.

Thank you, Donna

It depends on the database brand (Oracle vsd SQLBase) you are using.

In a SQL derived field try this:

Adress || City || State || Zip

Dbl click in the fields

Thanks Charles, I went to the Derived Fields panel. I double clicked Address, City, State, Zip. The report said Derived Field okay. When I ran the report, the following is what showed up on the report:

'PS_EMPLOYEES.STREET1'PS_EMPLOYEES.CITY''PS_EMPLOYEES.CITY'
PS_EMPLOYEES.STATE'

Charles, I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but I can't get it to work. When I go to the Derived Fields panel, there are pull downs on the different menus. I don't know which one to choose to input the information. For example, the first column is the Data Fields. I understand it. It contains the fields that I've used to create the report.

The second column contains different functions: Comparison, Patterns, Ranges, Grouping, Arithmetic, Bitware and Constant.

The third column contains String functions.

Don't I have to choose a function to start with, before I enter the data information?

Hi Donna,

dblclick in the address data field then type in || ' ' ||
then dblclick in the city data field and type in || ' ' ||

rinse and repeat...
