Hi!

Recently I had my computer worked on and restored. It has
Microsoft Me Edition software. My HP Deskjet 3745 no longer
works with my computer. I had no problem with my computer
responding to the printer before the computer was restored.

This is the error response I get from my
computer when I click on "print":
"There was an error to LPT1: for the printer (AGFA-AccuSet
1000). A printer timeout occurred. Open Printer folder.
Click icon for printer. Click file menu. Click properties.
To continue printing, click retry."

Any suggestions?

Thank you for responding,

humbleguy

Only thing I can suggest is to reinstall the printer drivers for the printer. You might also look at the printer properties and see if you can disable or increase the timeout.

hi,
are some days that I see this post (and next).
I will be sincere.

I believe that your problems
(about printer, computer, and forum) come from a keyword:

Microsoft Me

Someone called it Mistake Edition. But it was not a MS mistake, but was marketing issue, to confuse the market, while another version (Windows2000) was not still ready.

When IT Professional see this word, pass over, as a-Me-teor,
or co-Me-te, they hope it will not return, but:

"Sometimes They Come Back"

"Any resemblance to real OS, living or dead,
is purely coincidental . ..."

I suggest to save your documents, and install
Windows2000 if PC is old ;-) ,
or WindowsXP if it is newer (registration required!) :-( .

Always about Vista, your PC probably cannot support it,
but you want install it, see you later in same forum in 15 years.

It sounds like somebody install the drivers for the AGFA printer, either deliberately or accidentally.

Solution is to remove the printer, then install the drivers for the HP.

To remove:
Start, settings, control panel, printers, remove.

To add the HP:
Start, settings, control panel, printers, add printer.
You probably had the right drivers on a CD at the beginning. If you lost them you can download them from HP.

The 3745 HP inkjet is a standard USB printer which means the only way you could use LPT1 is on a network using the NET USE command. So, if it is a local printer, it will have to be connected to a usb port not LPT# which is parallel.
(usually).
If your OS is older than win98SP2 then you probably don't have usb ports that work. i.e. win95, win98sp1.

So, how do I get this printer connected to a usb port instead of a LPT1? My computer is a 2000 Compaq with Me
Edition.

Thanks for your response,

Humble guy,

The HP Deskjet 3745 has USB connectivity so this isn't a problem.
You'll need a USB printer cable, this will have 2 different ends. One end is an A plug the other a B plug. There is a photo on the wikipedia page for USB.
One problem I've seen is the drivers for Windows ME are not listed here.

This is HP's driver download page for your model printer.
Hopefully you have the CD you got originally with the ME drivers on.
Hope this helps.
