Hey guys!

Is there a way to do this without having to use something like Solar Winds software. Is there a command within Cisco's IOS that will allow this perhaps thru SNMP or something.. I just need to little config files from 2 2505's, they look daisy chained together...

Anyway, if someone can help that would be great.. Either way everyone, have a great evening.

There are a few ways to do this actually.

The easiest that I use on a regular basis is to just do a "show run" to display the running config. Then (on a Win 2k or XP client) I scroll up and copy and paste into a text file.

Most telnet software also has a capture option to capture the display to a text file.

You can also start a tftp server and type "copy run tftp." Follow the prompts and it will tftp your config to your server. I have a utility that does this every Friday on all of our equipment automatically.

The really nice thing about Cisco configs is to just think "text file." Everything is just good ole plain text. Simple and sweet.

Thanks guys, I did a cut and paste from Hyperterminal session off a WIn98 box.. It was easy

Cheers!

well, the IOS command is:

router# copy flash tftp

(assuming, you're running a TFTP server on your pc)

Copy flash tftp will not copy the config file, it will copy the IOS image!
