Is there a feature or tool for creating tables in Quark?

Up until this point I've been using the line tool to create grid etc, , surely there is a more efficient way of doing this.

How do you make tables? Is it just easier to draw them as vectors (Illust/Freehand) and import the grid and then use tabs for the text/numbers of the table?

What is the best way?

Thanks in advance.

QXP5/6 now has a table tool in the tool palette...easy to use with a little practice

Adobe sells something of a plugin to aid in creating tables more easily than with Quark's table tool. I think they call it InDesign.

Thank you for asking this question junglist and seeking a better way to do tables. There are still many designers equipped with Quark 5/6 and InDesign 2/CS that still draw tables manually. It annoys me to no end when a fellow designer sends an old manually-created table my way. Until Quark and InDesign introduced tables, I would often pass off table work to someone else. Tables are a joy now.

Err, kids, sorry to rain on your parade, but I'm on Quark 4.1.

No joy for table-makers then, huh?

There are third party XTs that could help but it may be more cost-effective to simply upgrade.

A few table XTs can be found in the listings at quark.com. Choose Products>Xtensions from the main menu.
