How do you configure Apache after the install?

I have no idea what im doing.

Running version, 1.3.29
I installed the program and used the default values for the server name and all the other fields.

After it installed, I dont know what to do now.
I typed in "localhost" in the web browser and it said "no page to display". The apache website isnt very helpfull for newbies, so can anyone tell me what to do now?

I installed it on windows xp pro.

first make sure apache is running. Do a CTRL-ALT-DEL and use Task Manager to look at the processes currently running.

Try restarting apache to see if there are any problems with your configuration.

Then look at your httpd.conf file to see where your doc root is located and make sure there's a index.html page there.
