How do you attach to an existing web site

I want to work on my web site by working on my workstation with IIS installed so I can test. I can't figure how to get a copy of my web site back to my work station.

All of the serious content is ASp pages. That is why I need to get a working copy - so I can test the new pages I am writing.

Can you FTP to the web server and download the files?
