Hi. Our company would like to move from having our web site hosted by a 3rd party to hosting it ourselves. What exactly do we need to make this happen? We would be using Windows 2000 Server running IIS.

Thanks for the help!!

Rachel

There are a bunch of stuff that you might have to deal with. But esentially you just use IIS console to do must of teh work.
Once you open IIS console under Admin tools, just go down the path under your server name or domain name, right click it and you will have the options of creating New Sites, etc.
BAsically the folder c:\inetpub\ is the basic start of your web site.Lets say the content of the folder c:\inetpub\ will become the content of Search for articles, documetation, etc.
Follow this link, it might help you

Rachel,

I hope this will help. If you need me to make any of this clear you can email me at broberts@lvcm.com

What you will need to host your own webserver....

1. High Speed Internet Connection
2. Win2000 with IIS
3. Exchange or any other mail program if you are handling
you own email with many users. If not you can have your
Domain Registor catch all to one email account.
4. Firewall of some sort with port 80 open for website and
25 for email if you are handing it. Forward those port to
you servers NAT IP.
5. Static IP (not needed if you use a service like
6. Edit your Domain Name setting with your Registor to
naming servers that will point to your Static IP.
If the Registor that you are using does not allow you
to do this you can use a public or free DNS like...
or Zone Edit is alot easier to use btw. Once you have done
this it will take up to 72 hours for it to be pointing
to your server.

If you have a dynamic IP you can use a service like
Install the service on your system
and you are done. Again will take up to 72 hours before
the DNS is pointing to your server.

I think I covered it all.... If not I know someone will correct me :).

But when I create a site at my server in a LAN with same my PC port(IP on Server is set: 192.168.0.1), I can't display my testpage at client although I typed: => nothing diplay. I tried to type: => nothing display.

Each time I test with each I typed I received diffirent message from IE (Access denied or you are not unauthorized..)
yesterday, I tested my program with another LAN, every setting for my site as I said above. I typed : => display OK. I think that my window2000 server has problem or my IIS doen't act correctly OR I have ((NOT ENOUGH PERMISSION)) to run my program cause' I loged with another user on the Computer I lay my page as website (192.168.0.1) I cant' see my site on IIS
