How do I know if Oracle running in my system ?
am using HP Unix 11

Farah Regal
"think twice and hit enter once"

easiest way is to run
ps -ef| grep lgwr

it will return the oracle log writer....

ora_lgwr_"ORACLE SID"

I then cut the Oracle SID out and do what I need done...

I used this method in my shutdown script....

Thanks for your prompt response
