Check NT Resource Kit (svrtools.exe package which includes usrmgr.exe).
From the NT server CD copy the files onto your pc. Off the top of my head I can't remember the names but you can get them off the server. The are only executable. You can also run server manager along with user manager for domains..
One thing I aways do isrun NT server as my ddesktop. The programs are built in and I think it allows a little more manageability of the servers..It also allows me the manage DHCP, wins, dns and other server centered items from my desk.

When I'm at a user's workstation (logged in as an administrator), and I need the User Manager for Domains, I just map to the PDC (or BDC) and run it from there (I think it's \\PDC\Winnt\System32\usrmgr.exe).

On the administrative tools menu on your server you will see something called client based administrative tools.
Guess what that does...???
Usr and svr manager
Event viewer etc

If you are on your server, that's all fine and dandy, they are talking about doing it from a workstation. The only file you need is the User Manager For Domains (usrmgr.exe), found in the winnt/system32 directory of your server. Copy that to your workstation and "tada"! To change to differant domain you go to the User Menu and then Select Domain.
On the server CD you will find cd\clients\srvtools you will find the bits you need and a batch file that copies them all to your drive. It des not create the icons but you can look into the directory and see them all so you know what Icons to create. Also if all you need is that one copy usrmgr.exe to your system32 dir. it will be in \\servername\admin$\system32 dir

My windows 98 workstation has the client based admin tools running here.I can use it to contatc any of my servers for event viewer, server manager, user manager.
The procedure is simplicity itself and actually uses the srvtools to deploy the tools to a workstation. Will work on 3.1,95,98,workstation
Paul O'Connor
damhna@hotmail.com
<a href=
