Hi,

Somewhat new to Norstar and wondering how I wire up a 4 port Norstar Flash. I thought i wire up two phoen ports on each jack, but didnt work. I installed one port on pins 2 & 3, and the other on pins 1 & 4. I did the same with the 2nd RJ11 jack for a total of 4 phone ports. Is this not correct?

Thanks very very much!
Joe

Intall two jacks, wire up the red and green or blue/white white/blue) wires on each jack.
Wire the other end to station ports on the KSU.
One pair from each port on KSU to each jack.
Plug in the mod cords and power up the Flash.
Make sure you use working porst on the KSU.

Once its fully booted up (5 minutes) try F983.
if newer software first try F903 and say OK to the codes before going to F983.

Also post your verion of software on KSU and version on Flash in case you have incompatibility.

Thanks CurlyCord.. I was putting two KSU ports on each jack. I thought a 4-port Flash needed 4-ports of KSU.

The mistake is that we call it a 4 port when its not....its a 4 channel.
Each port on KSU supports 2 channels so you can have 4 peepole in voice mail at same time.

But note that you need the expansion cartridge installed in the bottom of the Flash to get all 4 channels.

Right. The expansion is in there. I will go back tomorrow and remove two ports from the wiring. I think I need to re-initialize as well. Thanks for your Help!

Hello all,

I am really struhggling with this Flash 2.1. I installed the lines as above. However, I cannot get into it via F983. I keep getting invalid feature. In fact, I get this with all Feature codes used for vmail.

If i dial the DN of the Vmail (241), I get a login. If I dial the DN of the second port, I get a busy. Yet when I look at the DN's in the Key system, they show Idle. Any suggestions?

(I should add that this KSU and Vmail were removed from one church and being installed at another, so they are compatable.

Thanks,

Joe
