Hi
I presume VB6 was invented before USB ports.
How do I use them in VB6?
I want to transmit occasional data between the usb ports of 2 computers and have something like an OnComm sub in the receiving computer.
What do I do with baud rates and port numbers and stuff? (if anything that is!)
Or is there something like a winsock control for USB?
Ted

You need a driver to access a USB device, and the driver is written for that device.

I've not heard of two PCs talking to each other over USB, but it might be possible.

The article here explains USB drivers and gives some other links:
Hope this helps,

Robert

You could buy a book called 'USB Complete' by Jan Axelson available from amazon, gives you full details on how to use USB with VB6

I was hoping I could send data just like I can with comms ports using an activex but it doesnt look like this.
One reason was I wanted a high speed connection that was absolutely virus proof but I have heard that because the USB is more like a network connection, you can infect one conmputer frpom another if they are connected via usb ports if you use the nornmal USB drivers.
I dont know if this is true.
