Hi Guys, I've been trying to find a document which discusses this procedure. How do we upgrade a MICS NA-MICS-DR 7.0 S/W to CDA-MICS-XC 7.0 S/W. Do I just simply change the Cartridge or Flash Card and all programming will be saved. The customer currenly have 1 COMBO FIBER 6 PORT card. Or Do I need an upgrade tool kit for this procedure. I hope someone can help us out on this. Thanks.

Do a backup and power off to change the PCMCIA card. All programming will be saved but better safe than ....
And a backup will not preserve your key codes for PRI so if disaster happens you will need Nortel to regenerate them for you so have the SYSID and the original auth code available.

Thanks sprucegrover. I followed what you told me and I did not lose any data. My question now is about the Target Line. Wouldn't an upgrade to an XC7.0 increase the number of Target Lines that the Norstar have. Cause after the upgrade I checked that I still have the same number of Target Lines. We thought that just by upgrading to XC 7.0 the number of Target Lines would increase. Do we still need to add a hardware or keycode to increase the number of Target Lines?

you should have gone from 157-284 in NA to 157-380 XC.

I'm only seeing upto target line 284. I checked the system version after I changed the PCMCIA and it did changed to XC 7.0. When I did the upgrade I powered it down then I only replaced the PCMCIA card. I did not replace the cartridge, should I also replace the cartridge, is that the reason why the target line did not increase?

the cartridge should be an NVRAM 2 cartridge as long as it says that you are fine. You may need to add the second expansion card too? I'm not certian about that.

nope - DO NOT change the sleeve.
after adding another 6p combo or 6p expansion you'll get the other target lines

Thanks senk1s. We will add the 2nd 6-port expansion card to see if the Target lines increase.
