Hi

I have a s8300 in a G700 running Avaya CM 3.0.1 and need to setup up H.323 Trunk to an Asterisk 2.3 PABX using openH323 1.1.2 running on CentosLinux. The link runs between a PIX firewall. With the ip address of the Asterisk and the s8300 able to see each other. The IP of the MGP VOIP engine can not see the Asterisk ip address.

When making a call the Avaya takes up a trunk but get a denail event: Normal Call Clearing. There is no hairpinning on the siginaling Group

Please can any on help.

i managed to get an *@home with OOH323 to work with an S8700,cm2.1, it was just an old pc in the same location at the main PBX.

link was set up as a Tie and had to be U-law. So check your network region/codec set up. i had to change other stuff to get it to work. heres some info.

I have a trunk group setup between my CM3, and an Asterisk box that I am labbing. On the CM side, it's setup as a basic h.323 ISDN trunk group similar to whatsanavaya's post above. You will need to make sure you use a compatible codec in you h323.conf (or oh323.conf) file...I ended up using g.711 (g.729 is available for $10 per session from Digum). I had to change my codec set to add g.711 too. Originally, I was able to send calls into the Asterisk server, but I was not able to dial out. I had to enable "Faststart" in the oh323.conf file. The integration works quite well...I am currently testing the conference bridge functionality. I would like to test the voice mail piece, but I am having trouble with it understanding that it needs to open a mailbox for the called number. If you get the voicemail integration working, please post your configs!

Tnx,

RFWatts

Hi Guys thanks for the information,

RFWatts, How do I check/enable that "Faststart" is enabled on AVAYA.

whatsanavaya, Can you send me your network region 4?

thansk

Faststart is an * feature related to 00h323. with *@home its enabled by default.
Nothing special about region 4, just when my pBX(region 1) calls *(region 4) it uses codec 4. see below.

Voicemail on the * worked almost straightway, not sure what was meant by integration?. What i casnt get to work is an email being sent when a voicemail arrives.

I'm only getting my feet wet with * to see if i can use it.
VM,conferencing,CTI, CMS monitoring, are the area's i would like to investigate but i'm only tinkering with it at the moment.

Hi guys, I am looking to do the same as you guys and still trying to see how asterisk works. I have set up a few avaya to avaya ip trunks in the past but this is my first asterisk to avaya. Could you post at a copy of your oh323.conf and an example of the extensions.conf?

(this is a whole new ballgame with the usual pdf manual)
