I am a total newbie with Apache, so I'm probably asking a really dumb question, but I haven't been able to find the answer any where else. So here it goes.

I just installed Apache on my win98 system to act as a small server for my school work and posibly as a resumer for my work. The http stuff works great, but I can't seem to figure out how to ftp to the address. When I use cuteFTP and type in my address without a user name and password, I can log in, but then it hangs waiting for a 'welcome message'. So my questions are as follows. Can apache handle incoming ftp request? If so, where do I put the welcome message file (and is it a txt file or what)? How can I set it up so a user name and password are required to ftp to the site?

I think that's it. Any help would be greatly appreciated (even if it is directing me to a site where I can find out or get an FTP client software prog or something).

Thanks again.

yep... apache doesn't do ftp, to the best of my knowledge. adam@aauser.com

Apache cannot handle FTP requests. You'll need an FTP server for that.

Good luck!
