Ok we need to set up 10 digit dialing as our area telco is moving to that structure. What do I need to do to ensure we are ready? I have an S8710 v1.2 and an Octel 250.

Any help is great, thanks.

Does anyone have a quarter, I need to make a phone call?

Basically it would be your ars ana table you'd need to look at changing. You can to a "list ars ana" and see currently how you're configured. What this will show you is basically after "9" is dialed, the digits that are dialed and how the system handles the calls.

So basically you'll end up needing to setup a new route with your local area codes. I'm in 317, so this is how mine would look.

317 10 10 <route number> hnpa

You'd need something similar for each area code which would be "10 digits" and as always, be sure to test to ensure it works properly.

bwilch - I left the min as 7 and changed the max to 10. Is this ok? Is there anything else I should be doing? OCtel Voice Mail, etc I have no Auto Attendant...yet.

It's basically for the outbound that the ARS effects. If you're going to be forced to 10 digits, I'd set the min and max as 10.

As far as the Octel, the only thing I could see possibly needing changed is if you have to change the outbound dialing for message notification. However I'm not familiar enough with Octel to offer any useful suggestions on how to check that.

Thanks, I'll keep looking into the Octel part.

AvayaHelp,

Check system Parm in Octel. You should see this......

61 3 L/M DID: NUMBER OF DIGITS EXPECTED FROM CO

As you can see we get 3 from our CO. The 61 is the Parm number.

lever.

Also may need to think about your incomming call and the number of digits presented by the carrier. See P3 in ISDN trunk groups.
Also Change ISDN Public (1.3.2 and below) for outgoing called number CLI.

Cheers

Rolf
