Hello:

I´m just got hired from a company that has a 45 Client Netware 3.12 server. We have 10 computer systems running under foxpro (Dos). All the databases and the .fxp programs are located on a network volumen. Last week the server went down because of an electrical blow out and all the sudden the systems aren´t working. All my backups are dated from March and i really want to find a way of restoring the programs and the database using a Netware aplication (Such as Salvage, wich i´ve allready tryied and didn´t work) Questión: Is there a way to visualize and recover the files, just using Netware commands, from a date before the electrical problem (Obvisely with out a restore-backup process).

I´m urged to solve this problem.

There is no way I know of with doing it from a tape or other type of backup. Salvage probably won't work because the files were not deleted, just corrupted.

If the volumes are ok and data is just corrupted try running Vrepair. It designed to recover corrupted software and is fairly reliable. You need to dismount the volumes that you need to fix. If the corruption is on SYS then the utility can be used from c:\server.312 (I think this right -its been a long time! Basically where the server boot files are installed to!!)

Hope this works!

If trevorh13's suggestion of VRepair does not work, try contacting:
They have demo software that has been helpful in recovering MS and other file formats.

I hope you have implemented a daily backup schedule, this is a hard lesson to learn.

Best of Luck!

IF THEIR BACKUPS ARE OUTDATED, YOU SHOULD MAKE SURE THAT VREPAIR IS IS LATEST FROM NOVELL(I THINK IT HAS BEEN UPDATED A COUPLE OF TIMES
