I'm using hyperterminal to run a Sun cpci system.
I'm trying to boot Sparc/Solaris and it comes back saying
"Firmware password:"
I don't know the password, how can I bypass this ?
I've found in manuals that you can press Stop+N during bootup, to reset to factory settings, does this mean
Break+N for a pc keyboard ?
Doesn't work ?

Stop-n same as L1-n same as set-defaults. unfortunately this will not remove the firmware password. You need to be able to boot the system and run eeprom(shows environment settings and allows for you to set env settings while up and running.}. So hopefully this system is set to autoboot, if not you are in trouble. You maybe able to boot cdrom -s and mount /a on boot drive to see if you can set eeprom on system, this may be something to try. The only other way I know is to replace the nvram.

set security-mode which controls firmware password
see command below;

#eeprom security-mode=none {enter}

thanks

The STOP-N won't help here.
I'm using a Netra CP2300 CompactPCI board, I'm trying to boot the system and it's coming back asking for Firmware password, which I don't know...
The system is trying to boot from disc.

This is what you see on screen when starting system with
STOP-N pressed.
