Hi there.
I recently suffered a HD failure.
I have bought and installed a new HD (120GB) and re-installed WinXPpro.
The old HD (40GB) is now set as Primary Slave.
Windows will read the 40gb drive OK and allow me access to some of my data.
It will not allow me access to the Windows folder, the programs folder and most importantly the My Documents folder.
The error message is "Access denied. you don't have permission etc.."
If someone could help it would be most appreciated.
Thank-you.

Sorry, forgot to mention:

I have set up my new XP with the same passwords and accounts and am logged in as administrator. No Effect

I have tried using the XPpro recovery tools on the bootCD to reformat the MBR. No Effect

The old HDD will not boot as a master but can be read and otherwise accessed fine as a slave.

Thanks anyways for such a rapid response.

Phantom123 - did you try bcastner's advice (as per link he provided)?
