Hello,

How do we print from a FP 2.6 DOS application running
Windows 2K or Windows XP? We have several clients that are
moving to these OS's. As usual, our VFP product is not
ready for release to these clients. Thanks!

I'm not sure what the question is. Printing under W2K or XP shouldn't be any different that under Win95/98/ME. If you were printing "through" Windows printer drivers before you'll continue to do so. If you used the Generic / Text Only printer driver and used the "build-in" FP printer drivers, then you should continue doing it that way.

Are you having any specific problems or just trying to anticipate them?

Rick

Hi,

Actually, I'm not using any printer drivers. I'm just
using certain FP commands, like REPO FORM "Name" TO PRIN and
the like. And, for condensed characters, I send the appropriate esc codes to the printer.
I'm trying to find out the best route to take. We have
mailed out several demo's of our Job Cost Analysis software
and some people are using Win98/Me and others are using Windows 2000/XP.

Thank You.

Scott,
Well even if your program isn't using any FPD printer drivers, unless your users are setting up printers so that they print RAW, then your output will be going through the Window's printer drivers. Most of these will ignore (or print as a "funny" character) any control characters.

my company just added a win2000 pro computer to the system and i have no complaints about printing, however i dont use report wizard to build reports, and have hplaser iii on that station.
all the escape codes go though fine, and dos line art works fine too.
