Good day everybody...

the very first problem tat i have meet is although i have install both VB6 and CR8, i can't seen to find the OCX control tat i need to pass a parameter...

when i click on Project -> Component to add in the control for CR8....i could find numerous ones e.g. Crystal ActiveX Query Viewer, Crystal Report Viewer Control,Crystal Select Expert OLE Control Module and Crystal Report Control 4.6....

total there are 4 types....which one should i use in order to allow me to pass parameters from VB6 to CR8 and using the pass-in value to generate the reports in CR8?

thanks for all the time!!

What type of parameter that you are refering ? Report setting or text to be printed out.
If it is report setting then it is set through generation of report in Crystal report.
Else then you may try from the Crystal report help files cause it will show you how to pass text from you program.

Are you sure that you have the developer's edition of Crystal? Version 8 has a professional version that doesn't include the ability to launch from VB. Ken Hamady

Good day to all!

my version of Crystal Reports 8 is a professional one...
is there anyway i can pass a parameter from VB6 to CR8 Professional version..

i am suppose to pass two parameters which contains two dates from Visual Basic 6 to Crystal Reports 8 Professional. From these two dates passed in, i am suppose to generate a report based on the period between these two dates....
this is the whole scenerio....

thanks for the time!!

I can make "dummies" but how do I get the "dummy data" to relate to my "date/time" field so it will print in the period whit no activity?

If there is no way of doing this in CR I have to solve the it in Excel, so do you think I should focus on Excel or do you se a way to solve it with CR?

Thanks for your quick reply:)

If you can display the results in CR, do you still need to send it to Excel, or is Excel just a way to fix this problem? Ken Hamady
