How do I move the insertion cursor in a text widget?

Hello
I'm using a text widget and now i have the wish to, on certain events, change the place of the insertion cursor. With canvas and entry widgets there is the command "-icursor". With that you can change the place of the cursor. But a text widget doesn't have such an option! Can someone help me with this?

Read text man's. This moves cursor at index. Mak insert corresponds to cursor.

.text mark set insert $index

Thanks very much. This idea kinda crossed my mind already. I do have a manual, it just didn't get clear to me........
