Thanks for any assistance. I researched previous posts, did the search etc. Have never made Thumbnails and am new at this. Kittie

First figure out what size and file format you want them in. I typically make mine jpegs about 120px wide. From the menu Image/Resize . If you're doing this for a web page you'll want to change the resolution to 72 pixels/inch for quick loading.

If you're doing a lot of them you can batch process them.

Turn on the recorder: File/Script/Start Recording, go thru the motions of making the thumbnail. Then pause the recorder: File/Script/Pause and save File/Script/Save. Discard the changes on the image.

To run the batch: File/Batch/Process and the rest is pretty straight forward.

Let us know if that worked for you.

Changing the resolution will have no effect - it's purely a print thing. The only thing that matters is the number of pixels. See for a fuller explanation.

Something to consider when making thumbnails is not to always take the whole image and shrink it down to the desired size. You could pick some important (or interseting) detail from the picture and use that (resized if necessary). For example, if the picture was a full-length portrait of somebody, you could just select the person's face and make a thumbnail from that. Of course, you wouldn't be able to automate such a process.

Right, but the higher the resolution the larger the file hence a longer wait time for the pic to load, correct? A small pic with DSL or cable the resolution probably wouldn't be noticable but a large pic on dial-up would.

No, not correct. There's no difference in file size or download time - there are the same number of pixels, so it takes up the same space. Follow the link in my previous post for a fuller explanation.
